Season 7 — Spoilers

So "American Idol" starts today and 38 of the Top 50 contestants have been revealed on various websites. This is for those of you ONTD members that want to scour the Internet for YouTube clips, Myspace pages, naughty pics (see Antonella Barba).

And OMG.... one contestant was nominated for a Grammy, another was on "Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance", another was about to shoot their debut music video with Britney Spears, and even better..... one contestant DATED BRITNEY SPEARS and went on tour with her and LFO back in the day. And surprise, surprise. So many here have connections to either previous Idol contestants or the music industry in general.

This is an update on an original post I made here.

SPOILERS ON THE NEXT TWO EPISODES

On January 15, we will see the San Diego auditions which will feature: Carly Hennessy, David Archuleta and John Edward Carey, Jr.

On January 16, the Dallas auditions which will feature: Jason Castro, Michael Preston, Chase Foster, Kelton Nicholas Blackshear, Nina Shaw, Ricco Barrino (Fantasia’s brother) and Antoria Gillon going into labor. (Note: Ricco was cut in Hollywood.)

David Archuleta — Winner of Star Search when he was 12. I totally agree with the Worsters who have commented on David Archuleta — if he gets into the Top 24, he will be pimped to death. Given that he is 16 and what seems like great vocal chops if you’ve seen the YouTube clip (with Kelly Clarkson), this will be American Idol’s second try in capturing the High School Musical market.

During season 5, Carly was pimped by Simon Cowell before the show even started as “the only person I can genuinely remember from the auditions.” Carly was fortunately dropped from the ranks for not having a visa. Carly Hennessy is the epitome of a record industry failure. She was brought to America by MCA Records and recorded a bland pop album that sold only 300 copies (that’s not a typo). Then she faded into obscurity. To make things even messier, one of the songwriters for Carly's album also wrote songs for the debut albums of Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Kimberley Locke. There's a definite Idol connection here, folks.

An Australian import, he was formerly the lead singer of a band called The Rising and changed his name from Michael Lee. Michael was signed to Maverick Records and was supposed to release a debut album in 2003 after allegedly screwing over The Rising by leaving the band. Apparently, many of the band’s fans hate Michael for doing this and for claiming that he wrote some of their most popular songs (he didn’t). This guy sounds like a real winner.

Robbie Carrico is a failed singer from the pop group Boyz N Girlz United (check out their terrible music video). The band opened for Britney Spears and LFO before disbanding, and he was even one of Britney's first boyfriends. Robbie now fronts the band Missing Picket that rocks just about as hard as Daughtryback.
